About The Position

The Assistant Director (AD) of Residence Life for Training, Programming, and Assessment is a 12 month full-time, live-in position that is responsible for supervising the ongoing operation of two residential communities at Texas Wesleyan University. This is an integral role in providing a safe and positive environment that encourages opportunities for student growth and development. The AD is charged with building community within their residence halls and encouraging personal growth of both residential students and student staff members through individual and group relationships. The AD provides ongoing supervision of a staff of part-time Resident Assistants (RAs). The AD is responsible for planning and implementing the RA training process for each hiring cycle and ongoing development opportunities for the RA staff. The AD is responsible for coordinating all departmental programming efforts to engage and support the residential students. The AD will create and execute departmental assessment initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a high level of both in-hall and on-campus visibility and availability.
  • Cultivate a vibrant and healthy residential community through ongoing community development efforts including, but not limited to, programming efforts, community outreach, and relationship building.
  • Serve as primary supervisor to a staff of 8-10 Resident Assistants (8-10 RAs) and 1 Head Resident Assistant (1 HRA ).
  • Serve as primary caretaker of the physical facilities of residence hall communities.
  • Support the academic mission of the university and Division of Student Affairs.
  • Manage the administrative functions of the community and keep updated and accurate records.
  • Assist with the move-in and closing day experiences each semester.
  • Coordinate and execute RA Training and on-going development for RA staff.
  • Create, plan, and execute departmental programming focused on first-year experience, upper division support and engagement, and connection to Texas Wesleyan University.
  • Create, execute, and analyze departmental assessment campaigns. These assessment campaigns include: Ram Chats, housing studies, focus groups, student surveys and polls, etc.
  • Assist with summer operations (Camps and Conferences or Summer Housing).
  • Partner with Student Activities and campus partners for large scale programming.
  • Adjudicate community policy violations.
  • Assist with the development and coordination of signature events for Texas Wesleyan University and the Division of Student Affairs.
  • Serve on Texas Wesleyan University and Division of Student Affairs committees and task-forces.
  • Serve in the Residence Life on-call rotation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
