About The Position

Friends University is seeking to fill the Director of Residence Life & Conduct position in Wichita, Kansas. This position provides leadership and direction for the Friends University Residence Life Office by promoting a living and learning community within the context of a Christian institution. This position is responsible for all aspects of residence life, including facility management, staff supervision, resident education, housing assignment processes, and oversight of the Residence Life Office’s operational budget. It is a requirement of this position to live on campus and eat in the Casado dining hall on a regular basis, in order to maintain and develop connections with the student body. This position will also be responsible for promoting the university’s Community Standards and facilitating the judicial process for students in violation of the university’s Community Standards, as well as working to assure consistency and fairness across all aspects of residence life. Housing, including utilities, is provided, as is a meal plan in the university’s dining hall. Friends University is committed to work-life balance for its employees and offers up to 4 weeks of vacation, 96 hours of sick leave per year, up to 13 1/2 paid holidays, half day Fridays June through July, up to 5% retirement matching, and free undergraduate tuition for employees, their spouses, and their dependents. Requirements

  • Five years to ten years of residence life experience at a college or university, or closely related experience, is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to integrate Christian faith into residence life programming, as well as the ability to facilitate the development of Christian community within the university’s residential population.
  • Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job.
  • Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills are necessary.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills are required.
  • Experience in budgeting and scheduling is required as is two years’ supervisory experience.
