About The Position

The Assistant Pharmacy Director is a dual role. This person is responsible for the day to day operations of a NorthShore Pharmacy and assists the Pharmacy Director with various tasks. The position directly reports to the Pharmacy Director and is required to perform in accordance with NorthShore Health Centers’ policies and procedures and the requirements of the Indiana State and Federal regulatory agencies. All NorthShore pharmacists will adhere to the mission and values of NorthShore Health Centers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited Pharmacy program which meets the minimum education requirements to practice as a Licensed Pharmacist in the State of Indiana
  • Licensed Pharmacist in the State of Indiana
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certified within 2 weeks of hire
  • Ability to analyze situations and solve problems at strategic and tactical levels
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies
  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization's hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors
  • Practiced at organization and planning

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise pharmacy operations, including performance of all duties of a Lead Pharmacist at the Portage location.
  • Develop and maintain services in accordance with laws and regulations.
  • Select, orientate, supervise, and instruct departmental personnel in coordination with the Pharmacy Director.
  • Determine workload, delegate assignments, monitor, schedule, and initiate correct actions.
  • Perform all routine pharmacy operations as assigned to Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, Pharmacy Technicians, and Staff Pharmacists.
  • Perform OIG exclusions search for all department employees monthly.
  • Oversee the audit process for pharmacy locations.
  • Administer the Outcomes portal for all pharmacy locations.
  • Work with credentialing manager to keep all pharmacy staff competencies up to date.
  • Step in for the Pharmacy Director in his or her absence. This involves handling calls/requests from administration, clinic staff, and other pharmacy locations as well as end of month reporting.
  • Coordinate with all NorthShore departments as appropriate.
  • Willingness to travel to all NorthShore pharmacy locations to work shifts, including evenings, Saturdays, and holidays.
