Assistant Director of Patient Access North Star Behavioral Health is one of Alaska’s premier mental health facilities offering hope and healing for children, teens and adults who struggle with psychiatric or substance abuse issues. The Assistant Director of Patient Access is a key member of the Northstar Behavioral Health Team helps monitor and evaluate the clinical patient assessments and referral process. The ADPA will be the subject matter expert in clinical decisions, recommendations and assistance for staff. Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field or Minimum of two (2) years’ work experience in a mental health or psychiatric setting required.

Nice To Haves

  • Licensure by the State of Alaska preferred(LCSW, LPA, LPC, LMFT).

Responsibilities

  • Assists in managing the Patient Access staff to achieve effective delivery of service.
  • Assists the Director with many aspects of the department, which includes: orientation, training, and staff scheduling.
  • Facilitates admissions to the North Star and stays current in knowledge of statewide levels of care to make referrals or recommendations.
  • Conducts phone, walk-in and scheduled assessments.
  • Provides emergency psychiatric consultation services to potential patients, other hospitals, referral sources, and community organizations.
  • Maintains documentation for calls and services received; prepares and submits timely, complete and accurate reports weekly and monthly
  • Works closely with physicians, referral sources and other hospital departments to disseminate information with NSH and its services.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
