About The Position

About the Position: Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, this position assists with planning, directing, organizing, and coordinating the psychiatric nursing program at GMH. Typical Job Functions Include: Advising medical staff, department heads, and administration on matters related to nursing services. Assisting in establishing departmental goals and objectives and coordinating nursing activities with other hospital departments. Developing, implementing, and monitoring quality assurance standards, policies, and procedures for acute and long-term psychiatric nursing units. Managing scheduling, staffing, and timesheet audits, and supporting personnel matters, including disciplinary actions as needed.

Requirements

  • Option 1: Possession of a valid permanent Oklahoma license as a Registered Nurse as approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing, or a Registered Nurse license recognized by the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC); and Four years of professional nursing experience, including: At least two years in a supervisory capacity; At least one additional year in a managerial or consultative capacity, or providing consultation and educational services in a specialized field or program; and Two additional years of professional nursing experience in an administrative capacity.
  • Option 2: A bachelor’s degree in nursing; and Three years of professional nursing experience, including: At least two years in a supervisory capacity; At least one additional year in a managerial or consultative capacity, or providing consultation and educational services in a specialized field or program; and Two additional years of professional nursing experience in an administrative capacity.
  • Option 3: A master’s degree; and Two years of professional nursing experience in a supervisory capacity; At least one additional year in a managerial or consultative capacity
  • Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill all job-related travel normally associated with this position.
  • Some positions may require performing moderately heavy lifting or other manual tasks.
  • Upon a conditional offer of employment, Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services applicants must submit to a physical examination and shall meet the physical examination requirements of lifting/carrying 70 pounds occasionally, 25 pounds frequently and able to push and pull a maximum force of 40 pounds.
