About The Position

The Assistant Director for Housing, Access Control manages the electronic card access system for the University of New Hampshire – Durham Campus. The position reports to the Director of Housing and is member of the Housing and Residential Life Leadership Team. They supervise and lead the Housing Networked Systems (HNS) staff and programs: networked systems is comprised of 2-3 professional staff, 2-3 student staff, and the Software House™ C•CURE 9000 Security + Event Management Access System™. They serve as the Housing stakeholder representative for Wi-Fi service in the residential buildings. They address customer service, customer requirements, unresolved complaints and contract issues. They ensure that the network availability and configurations to meet HNS networked devices requirements. Duties/Responsibilities Supervision (45%) Manage and supervise staff and/or contractors to support HNS operations. Responsible for 1647 electronic lockets, lead all electronic lockset installations across campus, and are responsible for two Security Zones: Housing Office and Telecom Building. They collaborate with Keene State College, Plymouth State University, the USNH office, and UNH Law as subject matter experts. UNH Law will be integrated with the UNH Housing Ccure server in January 2026. This position has the authority to select staff for the HNS in consultation with the Director, guide work for their team, provide direction to staff, conduct performance reviews, handle disciplinary actions, and provide functional supervision and training. They collaborate with the team to develop, share, and maintain up-to-date Standard Operating Procedures in compliance with Housing and Residential Life and USNH Information Technology department requirements Project/Program Portfolio Management (30%) Researching, estimating costs, defining/refining scope, prioritizing, scheduling, initiating, gathering resources, monitoring progress, assisting in execution, and supervising staff/vendors related to technology/equipment updates and extending of existing systems. Developing, implementing, and monitoring adherence to new and existing Preventative Maintenance (PM) and equipment replacement programs. Operational Management (15%) Develops, implements, monitors and complies with operational and capital budgets. Develops and executes necessary RFPs/RFQ and in-house estimates. Makes and approves major purchases to support systems. Includes contract management duties primarily related to UNH-IT, UNH-Purchasing, and Sensormatic™-Ccure enterprise access and security system Service Level Agreements (SLA). Other Duties (10%) Performs any necessary operational tasks when necessary for staff vacancies or quality deficiencies. Assists in providing 24/7 Emergency System coverage.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and six years of experience in information/electronic technology field, or Master's and four years, or combination of education and experience equal to ten years.
  • Experience leading technical teams and working Knowledge and experience with Certified Cisco Network Administrator (CCNA).
  • Knowledge and experience of other networked systems and services.
  • General Networked Systems experience.
  • Project management experience working collaboratively with other stakeholders.
  • Position requires the use of the following as necessary: Multi-meter (DMM), Oscilloscope, Tone Generator and Probe Kit.

  • CompTIA™ or equivalent certifications in Network+, Server+, Data+, Project+
