We offer retreat-like amenities and our friendly and knowledgeable team will ensure our guests have a memorable stay. We are seeking an Assistant Director of Housekeeping to join our team. POSITION SUMMARY This position assists the Director of Housekeeping in the effective management and direction of the Housekeeping operation by ensuring quality service to guests, supporting team leadership, and helping monitor costs and inventory to maintain an efficient and profitable operation.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of sanitation requirements and chemical applications
  • Knowledge of safety and security procedures related to hotel operations
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy
  • Ability to write reports, correspondence, and performance evaluations
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong communication skills in English (reading, writing, speaking)
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to interpret safety rules, manuals, and procedures
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Meets legal age requirements for the position
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of housekeeping experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assists in overseeing the Housekeeping Supervisors, Housemen, Room Attendants, and Laundry Attendants.
  • Supports the preparation of weekly schedules, enforcement of service standards, and delivery of guidance and training.
  • Participates in interviewing, hiring, and training room attendants on procedures and techniques.
  • Provides training to new hires, including instruction on the use of cleaning chemicals and reporting maintenance issues.
  • Reinforces current standards with staff in daily meetings and communicates updates, including amenity and service changes.
  • Assists in planning, organizing, assigning, and coordinating daily activities and special projects to ensure compliance with hotel quality standards.
  • Helps ensure all guestrooms and public areas meet cleanliness standards and assists in resolving guest concerns regarding housekeeping services.
  • Supports control of housekeeping expenditures, including labor and supply costs.
  • Assists with employee performance evaluations, coaching, counseling, and documentation for personnel actions.
  • Ensures proper usage, labeling, and storage of cleaning chemicals in accordance with Hazard Communication Standards.
  • Assists with monthly linen inventory and communicates results to the Director of Housekeeping.
  • Supports timely completion of payroll reports each pay period.
  • Coordinates with housekeeping leadership and other departments to support operational goals and incentive programs.
  • Conducts inspections of guestrooms and public areas to ensure quality standards are maintained.
  • Assists in overseeing linen, supply, and storage room operations.
  • Helps manage issuance and tracking of housekeeping keys.
  • Submits and follows up on maintenance work orders as needed.
  • Assists with coordination of off-site labor services when required.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve services and operational efficiencies.
  • Supports vendor communication and assists in evaluating pricing and supply options.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by the Director of Housekeeping.
