JOB SUMMARY: Under general guidelines, this position leads and supports the design, implementation, management, and assessment of career readiness, internship/co-op, employer engagement, and student employment services for Indian River State College students and alumni. This position collaborates with academic divisions, employers, workforce partners, and community stakeholders to advance Indian River State College mission of student success and workforce outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Counseling, Business, Career Development, or related field (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in higher education career services, employer relations, workforce development, or student services, including supervisory or leadership experience
  • Demonstrated success in building employer partnerships, coordinating internships, delivering career readiness programming, and supervising staff
  • Knowledge of career development theory/practice, student advising, labor market information, job-search strategies, resume and interview fundamentals, and transfer-pathway advising
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; strong ability to engage students, alumni, employers, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds
  • Proven project-management ability, capacity to manage deadlines, exercise independent judgement, and work collaboratively
  • Proficient in career services platforms (job-boards, resume builders, online scheduling systems) and data-tracking/reporting systems
  • Experience crafting and executing marketing/outreach plans and utilizing web/social media platforms for student engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Career Services unit, including planning, resource allocation, staff assignments, workflow design, and continuous improvement of service delivery.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and assessment frameworks that optimize the division’s impact on student engagement and employment outcomes.
  • Lead high‑visibility programs such as career expos, employer‑in-residence, internship/micro‑internship pipelines, experiential learning initiatives, and alumni networking events that enhance employer visibility and student participation.
  • Ensure initiatives are scalable, data‑informed, responsive to labor‑market needs, and aligned with institutional strategic goals
  • Build, steward, and expand partnerships with employers, industry associations, workforce agencies, chambers, and community organizations to generate robust employment, internship, job‑shadowing, and cooperative learning opportunities.
  • Represent the College in regional workforce and economic development conversations and consortia.
  • Collaborate with Schools and faculty to embed career readiness, career exploration, and labor‑market awareness into academic pathways and classroom experiences.
  • Support curricular and co‑curricular initiatives that enhance major‑career alignment, transfer readiness, and student employability.
  • Recruit, train, coach, evaluate, and develop professional staff and student employees.
  • Establish performance expectations aligned with departmental goals and institutional priorities; lead staff in achieving high service standards and innovation
  • Provide leadership for the development and execution of comprehensive marketing and communication strategies that elevate awareness of Career Services and drive student and employer engagement.
  • Oversee use of digital platforms, social media, and campus communication systems to expand reach.
  • Monitor labor market trends, employer hiring practices, and emerging career‑readiness frameworks.
  • Use data insights to refine programming, advise leadership, and advance innovation in service delivery.
  • Complete all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
