Join The Arc of the Ozarks as our Assistant Director of ABA Services and become part of a mission-driven team dedicated to empowering individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Developmental Disabilities, and Mental Illness. As a leader in our ABA Services Department, you will oversee Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Services, mentor and supervise ABA professionals, and ensure the highest standards of care through data-driven interventions and training programs. The Assistant Director (AD) of ABA Services is responsible for coordinating the operation of the RBT Services Program of the ABA Services Department. This position is also responsible for developing, implementing, and training employees to implement behavior support plans for persons served. This individual will conduct functional assessments and skills assessments, analyze observational and staff-collected data, and will assist with intervention and therapeutic program evaluations. This individual is also responsible for providing training for staff members on implementing general and client-specific positive behavior supports. The Assistant Director of ABA Services must have excellent reasoning, analytical and communication skills. A strong attention to detail, patience and perseverance are paramount, but it is also important this individual be an empathetic, emotionally stable leader. The Assistant Director of ABA Services must be able to make behavioral recommendations that are data and research-based. The Assistant Director of ABA Services will work with clients that may have Autism Spectrum Disorders, Developmental Disabilities, and/or Mental Illness; these individuals may exhibit impulsive behaviors, poor decision-making, and verbal/physical aggression. This individual will use behavioral observation and assessment, and crisis intervention and prevention skills daily. This individual must be able to provide support to such individuals by developing effective positive behavior support plans and consequential training on such interventions. This is a salaried, exempt position.

Requirements

Master’s degree in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, or Counseling.
Six years of professional experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities or mental illness, including individuals with psychiatric disorders.
Must be Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certified and hold a Missouri Licensed Behavior Analyst credential (or be eligible to obtain them).
Completion of an 8-hour BACB-approved supervision training.
Strong analytical, communication, and data interpretation skills for developing individualized behavior strategies.
The ability to remain calm, focused, and objective in high-stress situations, ensuring logical decision-making without being driven by emotion.
Strong problem-solving skills and a level-headed approach are essential for success in this role.
A deep commitment to supporting individuals with disabilities and improving their quality of life.
Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion.
Ability to work with and respect persons with intellectual disabilities and other developmental disabilities.
Ability to work varied and flexible hours and to accept and adapt to changes in assignments, methods, policies, etc.
Considerable knowledge of modern positive behavior support principles and practices, and cognitive behavior management techniques as they apply to habilitation programming for those with intellectual disabilities and other developmental disabilities.
Considerable knowledge of the behavioral sciences and allied disciplines involved in the evaluation, care, and habilitation of persons with intellectual disabilities and other developmental disabilities.
Considerable knowledge of the principles of supervision and training as applied to habilitational programming.
Ability to plan, coordinate, and adapt a variety of habilitation program activities to meet the specialized needs, abilities, and conditions of each program participant.
Considerable knowledge of community-based programs of all disciplines for the care and the treatment of individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities.
Ability to direct, coordinate, and supervise harmoniously the work of professional and non-professional employees.
Ability to assign, direct, and review the work of subordinate staff involved in the implementation of habilitation programs.
Ability to collect and analyze information in making decisions concerning treatment for each individual resident.
Ability to evaluate the progress of individuals served and the quality of a variety of habilitation programs.
Ability to develop effective and practical individual habilitation plans and related program procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with program participants, subordinates, and other facility staff.
Ability to work as a direct contact staff with individuals served, to demonstrate needed behavior for direct contact staff.
Knowledge of and ability to adhere to the Behavior Analyst Certification Board’s standards and the Missouri Behavior Analyst Advisory Board’s regulations.
Actively participates as a member of a committee and all associated responsibilities; or teaches a class as designated by the training department.
A licensed and insured driver with ability to drive for work purposes.

Responsibilities

Lead & Supervise: Provide oversight to Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), ABA Specialists, Fieldwork Students, and RBTs.
Ensure Quality Care: Develop, implement, and monitor behavior support plans (BSPs) to help individuals achieve behavioral goals and greater independence.
Train & Develop Staff: Provide training on ABA principles, behavior management techniques, and intervention strategies.
Assess & Analyze: Conduct functional behavior assessments (FBAs) and skills assessments (ABLLS-R, VB-MAPP, AFLS), ensuring data-driven interventions.
Monitor & Improve: Oversee treatment integrity and data collection to optimize outcomes for individuals receiving services.
Foster Collaboration: Work closely with families, staff, and leadership to ensure client success and program efficiency.
Serves as an ambassador of the mission and purpose of The Arc of the Ozarks.
Will utilize the principles of Applied Behavioral Analysis to support clients in meeting behavioral goals and increasing levels of independence.
Supervises Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA), Board Certified Associate Behavior Analyst (BCaBA), ABA Specialists, Fieldwork students, and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT).
Evaluates work performance and attendance in RBT Services with Lead RBT.
Supervision duties also include utilization of the least restrictive effective interventions and monitoring all client data for recipients of RBT services.
Develop training and systems for RBT services and ensure RBTs are trained on policies with Lead RBT.
Develop objective behavioral definitions, team wide data collection systems and client specific data collection systems.
Develop and help implement individualized behavior support plans (BSPs).
Develop treatment integrity checklists and monitor staff member’s use of skills.
Monitor treatment integrity with which BSPs and general positive behavior supports are implemented.
Maintain client behavior databases and provide information to the appropriate Management Personnel as needed.
Graphically represent behavioral data and provide the necessary graphs to Program Supervisors and Program Directors as needed.
Maintain treatment integrity databases and provide feedback to supervisors as needed.
Modify and update BSPs based on client changes, behavioral observations, staff observations, and behavioral data.
Provide leadership and direction to all aspects of the RBT Services Department and employees.
Effectively communicates and provides training to all levels of organizational staff on the principles and techniques of ABA.
Provide staff training on applied behavior analysis and consequential treatment interventions.
Perform functional behavior assessments.
Conduct skills assessments (ABLLS-R, VB-MAPP, AFLS)
