About The Position

The NYU Gallatin School of Individualized Study is searching for an Assistant Director, Information Technology and Systems to join the Technology and Operations team. Responsibilities for this role include: Manage the School's IT infrastructure, including Mac and Windows desktops, endpoints, learning spaces, and servers Administer and support applications and databases Provide tier-3 support for endpoints, servers, systems, and applications Provide technical leadership for new systems, processes, and applications Develop and support maintenance and security strategies to ensure uninterrupted operations and data security; implementing backup, remote, and cloud access procedures Deliver technology training for staff Research emerging technologies and make recommendations Partner with University departments and Schools to implement university-wide technologies Collaborate with consultants, vendors, and IT departments to address technical, operational, and security needs Develop and monitor departmental budget

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or equivalent
  • 5+ years or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Supervision of full-time employees
  • Desktop support maintenance, including VMWare, Active Directory administration, and Amazon Web Services
  • Proficient in IT security software and database management
  • Strong background with Windows operating systems, MS Office, computer hardware, and desktop support concepts such as managed endpoints (Cortex and Bigfix)
  • Familiarity with virus and spyware protection, system memory, hard disk upgrades, software installation, printer/scanner synchronization, mobile device configuration, imaging, network, and user account administration
  • Expertise in Windows backup, recovery, and restoration processes
  • Proficiency in integrating and managing complex projects
  • Agile thinker with strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to navigate conflict and maintain positive relationships at all organizational levels, both internal and external
  • Strong understanding of hardware, software, Windows server/Active Directory, VMWare server management, database management, and networking
  • Working knowledge of telecommunications, Active Directory/Amazon Cloud Services, LAN, and emerging technologies
  • Strong full-time employee supervision and management skills, with the ability to analyze trends and provide recommendations
  • Excellent communication skills, with a track record of building relationships with diverse stakeholders and maintaining open, productive communication with their supervisor to align goals and expectations

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree Science in Information Systems
  • 5+ years experience with desktop support issues, Active Directory administration, and database management
  • Familiarity with the Salesforce.com platform
  • Technical expertise in operating systems, network protocols, and various software applications, with a particular emphasis on using tools like BigFix and Cortex XDR for endpoint management, security, and threat detection
  • Cybersecurity knowledge and experience are crucial, encompassing an understanding of security measures and compliance frameworks
  • Proficiency in data management, troubleshooting, and problem-solving are essential for effective IT operations
