About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY: Develops departmental policies and procedures and manages their implementation in accordance with departmental and Johns Hopkins strategic objectives or initiatives. Prepares staffing and budgetary plans and manages resources to achieve department goals. Responsible for budget development and monitoring, information systems program development and operation and procurement for JHHS Facilities. Assess, manages and mitigates departmental fiscal risks and tracks and reports key functional metrics to departmental leadership to reduce expense, improve effectiveness, and to maintain the financial health of the department. Financial responsibility includes expenditures exceeding $141 million per year. Reports data to and oversees departmental performance with institutional benchmarking providers. Facilities Information systems are used to operate, control and monitor key departmental applications used for regulatory compliance, as well as mission-critical utilities such as electricity, emergency power, domestic water, chilled water, steam, medical gases, and temperature and room pressurization. Procurement services includes contract negotiation, execution and management, as well as daily purchasing of supplies and services valued in excess of $85 million annually for three campuses. Develops, leads, and executes utility purchasing strategies for four campuses. Conducts reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities internally and with outside consultants. Performs general managerial duties such as supervising staff, planning, scheduling, budgeting, data analysis, reporting and performing presentations. Represents the department to customers and the Hospital to patients, visitors, or interested parties. This work is performed under the minimal supervision of the Director, JHHS Facilities Management

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Information Systems or related field.
  • Detailed knowledge of facilities engineering, engineering operations and planning, maintenance, design and construction methods, and equipment installation/inspection.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
  • 10 years of related work experience, including 3 years in a supervisory capacity

  • MBA or related master’s degree preferred.
