About The Position

Malden School Food Service Department Assistant Cook SUMMARY: This position is responsible for making and serving nutritious meals for students in a safe and healthful manner.

Requirements

• Education: High school graduate or equivalent
• Must complete all mandated training as necessary
• Ability to speak and read English in order to understand and perform job assignments

Nice To Haves

• 1 year professional food service experience preferred
• Always present a positive and professional image
• Servsafe certification

Responsibilities

• Cook, prepare and serve food according to menus and in correct portion sizes as mandated by yield guides
• Perform cleaning duties, including sweeping and mopping of floors, cleaning of equipment and work areas, dishwashing and pot washing
• Sets up hot and/or cold food area
• Comply with all state, Federal, local health department requirements for safe food handling
• Comply with all location security protocols and guidelines
• Receive and properly stores supplies
• Take temperatures when receiving frozen/refrigerated foods
• Collect and strip trays for dishwashing and participate in warewashing, if assigned
• Store silverware, dishes, glasses, cups, pots, etc.
• Attend all mandatory in-service programs
• Manage point of service/cash handling if applicable for position
• Complete daily paperwork, as applicable
• Must be available to substitute/fill in at any of our 7 locations
• Adheres to all policies and procedures at all times
• Complies with all requirements of the mandated food handling certification requirements
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
