About The Position

SourceAmerica is seeking an Assistant Controller to join the Finance team. The Assistant Controller manages daily accounting and financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely month-end close. The role oversees reconciliations, journal entries, and documentation while driving standardization and process improvement. It supports staff development, D365 enhancements, and workflow optimization to strengthen system efficiency. The Assistant Controller also acts as the VP of Finance’s delegate and partners with the Controller to maintain strong internal controls and resolve accounting and reporting issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or finance.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory roles with demonstrated leadership and team development skills.
  • Must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Must have ERP/accounting systems implementation experience.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

  • 15+ years of accounting experience.
  • Government contracting experience.
  • Microsoft Dynamics (D365) experience.
  • Diverse accounting background with experience in nonprofit.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the day-to-day activities general ledger and financial reporting operations ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance across all accounting activities.
  • Maintain and review activity posted to the general ledger. Complete comprehensive documented review and oversight of monthly closing, analysis and reporting processes.
  • Reviews reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting documentation to maintain strong internal controls and high quality financial data.
  • Monitor accounting policies, processes, and procedures to ensure they remain current and effective, updating and restructuring documentation and controls as needed to maintain accuracy and compliance.
  • Assist with the preparation of materials for the SourceAmerica Board, annual audit of SourceAmerica’s financial statements and SourceAmerica’s employee benefit plans, multiple tax filings, quarterly omnibus submission and executive reviews.
  • Support compliance with the Cooperative Agreement including the development of work packages and quarterly reporting.
  • Provide financial analysis and develop pro forma financials (and performance against the same) for lines of business.
  • Assist the Finance leadership team with development of the annual budget as necessary.
  • Support Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) enhancements, system testing, workflow optimization, and data integrity improvements.
  • Collaborate with FP&A, Contracts, Operations, HR, and other departments to resolve accounting issues and ensure proper financial treatment.
  • Conduct technical accounting research and evaluate the appropriate application of GAAP.
  • Manages and develops a team of two accountants, providing coaching, performance management, and professional growth opportunities.
