About The Position

Mount Holyoke College is seeking a Assistant Field Hockey Coach. This role is designed for a professional who is passionate about the NCAA Division III experience—where academic excellence and competitive athletics go hand-in-hand. Reporting to the Head Coach, you will help lead a program that prioritizes a "student-first" philosophy, fostering an inclusive environment that develops leaders on and off the turf. You will be a key partner in managing all aspects of a highly competitive program. From tactical execution on game day to the strategic recruitment of the next generation of Lyons, your work will directly impact the growth and culture of our student-athletes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS).
  • Proven collegiate coaching and recruiting experience.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to use emerging technologies for teaching and digital analysis.
  • Valid driver’s license and current First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended travel.

  • Master’s degree (MA/MS).
  • A deep understanding of the recruitment landscape for highly selective liberal arts institutions.

Responsibilities

  • On-Field Excellence & Tactics Lead high-level technical and tactical training sessions.
  • Provide specialized feedback for all positions, including goalkeepers.
  • Drive video analysis, scouting reports, and in-game tactical adjustments.
  • Support the Head Coach's vision and team standards.
  • Recruitment & Talent Identification Identify and evaluate prospective student-athletes at high school games, club tournaments, and showcases.
  • Manage communication with prospects and families in strict accordance with NCAA DIII rules.
  • Coordinate campus visits and itineraries to showcase the Mount Holyoke experience.
  • Student-Athlete Development & Mentorship Act as a mentor for academic progress, personal growth, and life skills.
  • Collaborate with Strength & Conditioning, Sports Medicine, and Counseling services to ensure holistic athlete wellness.
  • Monitor eligibility and promote a healthy balance between sport and study.
  • Operations & Administration Manage program logistics including film uploads, practice planning, and equipment maintenance.
  • Coordinate team social media in collaboration with the Strategic Content Specialist.
  • Assist with fiscal tracking, fundraising, and international travel planning (every four years).
  • As part of the athletic department, you will perform secondary roles such as teaching PE units or assisting with event management for home track meets.
