About The Position

The School of Library and Information Studies at Texas Woman’s University invites applications for a non-tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Clinical Professor to start in the Fall 2026 semester. The school seeks outstanding applicants whose area of clinical expertise focuses on school librarianship and who can teach courses related to school librarianship, children’s and young adult literature, and other areas of library and information science. Current school librarian certification and at least four years of experience working as a professional school librarian are required for this position.

Requirements

  • A master’s or doctoral degree in LIS, or a closely related field, and at least four years of professional experience as a school librarian
  • Current school librarian certification
  • Commitment to meeting the educational needs of a diverse online student population
  • Strong potential for excellence in online teaching
  • Willingness to participate in service activities of the school, college, university, and profession/community

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in school librarianship, children’s literature, and other areas, at the undergraduate and master's level
  • Advise students in SLIS’s School Librarian Certification program
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues on school, campus, and professional/community committees
  • Share their clinical expertise with colleagues and students, such as publishing practice-based articles and giving presentations at practitioner conferences/workshops
  • Cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, and staff
  • Meet the educational needs of a diverse student population
  • Holding weekly office hours on the Denton campus is expected.
