About The Position

As the Farmer 2, with College of Agricultural Human and Natural Resource Sciences (CAHNRS) Creamery, you will ensure the smooth operation of cheese‑making processes at the Creamery. You will be responsible for making cheese and performing all tasks associated with the process—from receiving milk into the cheese vat to preparing the final packaged product. You may also assist with ice cream production as needed. A key part of your role includes accurately completing all required documentation for each step of the process and safely preparing equipment for the next day’s operations. You will also play an important role in training student employees in these same tasks, helping maintain high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency within the Creamery. This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible. Monthly Salary: $3,336 to $4,428 | Range 37 Steps A - M | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28. In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience in farm work or maintaining livestock; OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Experience in food manufacturing work; OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Must have or be able to obtain within fourteen (14) days of hire, a Washington State Food Handler’s permit.
  • Must have or be able to obtain within thirty (30) days of hire, First Aid certification.
  • Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed. This position often works into the evening and occasional Saturdays.
  • Experience with office software, such as databases, spreadsheets, word processing.
