About The Position

Bank of New Hampshire is currently looking for a dedicated Assistant BSA Officer. This important position will provide support to the Risk Management department by ensuring compliance with the laws and regulations specific to the Bank Secrecy Act, the regulations set forth by the Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) and the USA PATRIOT Act.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in forensic accounting, business administration or a related field or equivalent working experience is required.
  • 2-4 years of experience with BSA/AML programs and operations. Thorough regulatory knowledge, analytical skills and technical skills are also required.
  • Our ideal candidate will have prior banking experience with a strong knowledge of banking products and services, in particular alternate delivery channels, and will be fluent in compliance regulations related to fraud, including but not limited to OFAC, Bank Secrecy Act & Anti-Money Launder Act laws.
  • Must be technically proficient with an aptitude for working specifically with a variety of software systems and platforms used to ensure data integrity and fraud mitigation and will be comfortable handling large amounts of customer account activity data to determine reasonable activity levels.
  • The incumbent will understand the importance of enhancing the Bank's image by providing representation, involvement and leadership in community activities and charitable, civic and social organizations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, as well as the ability to interact with both internal and external customers, are essential.

Nice To Haves

  • A Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) designation is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for adhering to the reporting and recordkeeping requirements of the Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering rules and regulations, observing economic sanctions by prohibiting transactions as specified by the Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC), following the bank’s customer identification program (CIP) rules and observing all Bank policies and procedures relating to BSA, OFAC, CIP, and related acts.
  • Duties will include utilizing various systems and information aggregators to perform reviews and analysis of High-Risk Accounts and SAR filings, as well as validating transactions from within the BAM system.
  • Assists in oversight of the BSA monitoring solution of network reports used in the detection of unusual or suspicious activity that may be indicative but not limited to, illegal activity, money laundering or terrorist financing.
  • Assists in developing and monitoring the Bank’s BSA policies and procedures to ensure consistency, efficiency and compliance with the regulations and laws.
  • Responsible for supporting BSA compliance, which in this case will include OFAC compliance and USA Patriot Act compliance with enhanced focus on CIP/CDD/EDD specifications.
  • Supports a formal training program enterprise-wide, to inform and educate all personnel, senior management and the Board of Directors of all BSA-related issues and responsibilities.
  • Assists in overseeing the BSA regulatory exam and assists in responding to any findings or recommendations as well as supervision of the internal and independent BSA compliance audits.
  • Researches and maintains appropriate records specific to 314 (a) and 314 (b) compliance, as well as responds to any special requests from FinCEN.
  • Prepares and generates reports as required by the Board of Directors, senior management or adherence to government rules or regulations specific to BSA compliance.
  • Complies with the Bank Secrecy Act: 12 CFR 326.8; 31 CFR Chapter X; 31 CFR 1020.220; 31 CFR 1020-210; 31 CFR Chapter V; 12 CFR 353 and FinCEN Regulations - 314(a) and 314(b).
