About The Position

Located in the state capital, the University of Illinois Springfield is one of three members of the University of Illinois system. Application deadline: 12/2/2025 Minimum Starting Salary: $54,500 annually Summary: Serve on the Department of Athletics administrative team. Direct and oversee the implementation of strategies to lead corporate sponsorship sales and fulfillment, increase ticket sales and operations, direct online team fundraising stores, develop game day and alumni engagement opportunities, and fan events and promotions. Serve as the liaison with multiple campus and community entities and for department camps, clinics, and events. Supervise the Event Operations Coordinator, interns, cheer coach, mascot, and game day staff and student workers. Responsible for presenting a positive and dynamic game environment when hosting athletic sporting events for all sports to create the ultimate fan experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration, or a closely related field.
  • One (1) year (12 months) of professional work experience in athletics fan engagement, revenue development, marketing, public relations, communications, or brand management.
  • Based on position requirements, additional education, training, and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position, may be required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in business administration or a closely related field. Preference will be given to candidates with professional experience working in college athletics, semi or professional sports, or sport marketing.
  • Candidates must have willingness to work nonstandard hours, evening, and weekends as required.
  • One (1) year (12 months) of supervisory experience of full-time, part-time, volunteer, or student employees or oversight of student groups/organizations.
  • Strong communication and sales skills required
  • Candidates must have ability to work in a team environment, work independently, and exercise judgment in a variety of situations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of sport marketing and promotions experience, athletic event operations, experience with supervising and training staff
  • General understanding of corporate sponsorship fulfillment and solicitations

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance corporate sponsorships, including direct solicitation of new prospects and stewardship of current sponsors. Include game day events in sponsorship packages to continue to increase fan experience and corporate partner recognition. Provide a fulfillment summary to each partner.
  • Serve as the department's Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). Initiate new, innovative methods to engage Prairie Star student body, faculty, staff, and alumni. Work directly with head coaches to include sport specific in game promotions and events. Re-engage & direct Blue Crew and other groups to enhance game day experience & student engagement. Develop opportunities to engage alumni.
  • Independently develop and implement community marketing and engagement strategies to increase attendance, ticket revenue, and game day experience. Actively participate with community partners, networking, and local alumni groups to explore sponsorship, engagement, and NIL opportunities. Oversee ticket operations as liaison with the ticketing provider. Direct online team fundraising stores, liaison with licensing partners, and develop marketing strategies to promote BSN Sideline store. Report on sales.
  • Oversight of the atmosphere at home event, including preparing game scripts and oversight of concessions operations. Oversight of mascot and cheer coach. Educate and supervise Event Operations Coordinator, and game day staff, interns, and student workers on appropriate guidelines for NCAA compliance and professional behaviors.
  • Serve as key member of the Department of Athletics administration team, working closely with the AD, Senior Associate AD, and Advancement. Serve as liaison for camps, clinics, and department events, and oversee the registration webpage. Eventual oversight of an assigned sport and coaching staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor & Director of Athletics.
