Bargaining Unit: UUP Job Summary: The College of Nursing at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Assistant/Associate Professor (12MO), Tenure-Track. The successful candidate will: Implement the College's philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through expert teaching. Assume responsibility for all autonomous aspects of individual teaching assignments. Use innovative, active learning strategies in the classroom and beyond. Plan clinical and simulation experiences for and provides direct supervision and evaluation of students delivering nursing care, as needed. Serve as Academic Advisor for students. Evaluate and provide documented feedback on student's performance. Grade homework, quizzes, tests, lab assignments, clinical paperwork and other written work in a timely manner. Be available for remediation of students as required or needed. Orient and maintain current knowledge related to agency/clinical policies and procedures. Report to the Executive Vice Dean. Direct research of students working for advanced academic degrees. Mentor students in evidence-based research and scholarship. Conduct research and publishes findings in professional journals. Develop a program of research.

Requirements

  • Doctoral Degree in Nursing or equivalent.
  • New York State Registered Nurse and/or Nurse Practitioner License.
  • 4-years of teaching experience in academia.
  • 3 to 5 years of clinical practice experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Evidence of current scholarship.
  • Or, a satisfactory equivalent combination of experience, education and training.
