About The Position

The Department of Built Environment in the College of Science and Technology at North Carolina A&T State University invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track faculty position in Construction Science and Management beginning August 2026. The position is expected to be at the Assistant Professor level; however, exceptionally qualified candidates may be considered for a higher rank. We seek applicants who can develop a collaborative and innovative research program in one or more of the following areas: construction estimating, construction scheduling, building information modeling ( BIM ), structural systems, construction materials, construction management, and environmental issues in construction management. Experience or expertise in occupational and environmental safety and health (e.g., OSHA 10-Hour & 30-Hour certifications, HAZWOPER training) is a plus. The ability to integrate advanced technologies into teaching and research is highly desirable. The successful candidate’s research program should support the Department and College’s focus on Applied Science and Technology. The hired faculty member will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in both teaching and research. Responsibilities include teaching Construction Management courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, developing curriculum and new courses, participating in ABET assessment activities, supporting student recruitment, directing student research, and providing service to the University and broader community. The ability to teach courses in the Environmental Health and Safety ( EHS ) program, such as construction safety and fire prevention, is also desirable. The ideal candidate will establish and sustain a productive research agenda in Construction Science or closely related fields, secure external funding, and publish in peer-reviewed outlets. Mentoring undergraduate researchers is essential, as undergraduate research is a vital component of the Construction Management curriculum. The position also requires active participation in service to the Department, College, and University. Collaboration with colleagues across the sciences, mathematics, and technology disciplines is strongly encouraged.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in Construction Engineering Technology, Construction Management; Civil Engineering or closely related field by the anticipated date of appointment.
