About The Position

The Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine has an immediate opening for a tenure track faculty position in Small Animal Internal Medicine. Salary Grade : UC Please see Staff Compensation Structure or Skilled Crafts and Service Maintenance Compensation Schedule for salary ranges. For salary grade UC, these positions are "Unclassified" and salary ranges are determined by the hiring department.

Requirements

  • DVM or equivalent degree.
  • Ability to obtain licensure in the Mississippi.

Nice To Haves

  • Diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine is preferred, but residency-trained individuals eligible for final certification examination will also be considered.
  • An advanced degree and experience in clinical research are desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching responsibilities involve didactic teaching and clinical training of professional students, interns, residents, and graduate students.
  • Service responsibilities involve clinical case management, rotating emergency duty, and consultation with private practitioners.
  • Clinical duties in the Small Animal Medicine service will be shared with four other faculty members.
  • Participation in the college’s continuing education and clinical research program is strongly encouraged, as is the development of a specific area of clinical and research focus and expertise.
  • External grant acquisition and supervision of postgraduate degree students is encouraged and supported, and initial funding is available to support the development of research initiatives.
