About The Position

Cyber & Intelligence Operations (CIO) in the College of Engineering (ENGR) is seeking a candidate for a career-track faculty position at the Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice Rank for the Intelligence & Information Operations degree program for on-campus and online students. We seek a candidate who can demonstrate outstanding teaching methods as well as the ability to develop, maintain, and teach undergraduate courses in a variety of formats (e.g., on-campus and online). The program places a high value on collaboration both within the specific degree program and across other related disciplines. We seek individuals who bring leadership, and a commitment to academic excellence. We are particularly interested in candidates who can work with a multifaceted student population, stakeholders, and colleagues and will demonstrate curricula development and instruction consistent with the department and college's purpose, vision, and values. The desired Intelligence teaching areas include, but are not limited to, the following: Intelligence terms, concepts, and authorities; single and all source analytical techniques; single & multi-discipline collection operations; Intelligence, Surveillance, & Reconnaissance (ISR) synchronization; and the effects of deception and misinformation within the operational and information environments. Requirements

  • M.S. degree in Intelligence Studies, National Security Studies, Information Warfare, Strategic Studies, International Relations, or a closely related field to the teaching duties expected.
  • Specific and demonstrable experience in one or more of the following areas: Intelligence Analysis; ISR Synchronization; Signals Intelligence (SIGINT); Human Intelligence (HUMINT); Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT); Measurements & Signatures Intelligence (MASINT); Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT); Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI); Electronic Warfare (EW); Information Operations (IO); o Psychological Operations; Deception, Counter-Deception, and Counter-Intelligence.
  • Previous teaching experience.
  • Knowledge of Intelligence, Surveillance, & Reconnaissance (ISR) synchronization; single and all source analytical techniques; and the effects of deception and misinformation within the operational and information environments.
  • Knowledge of current industry practices, tools, and technologies relevant to Intelligence teaching areas.
  • Pedagogical knowledge, including curriculum design, adult learning theory, and a broad scope of teaching practices.
  • Teaching and instructional skills for both in-person and online modalities.
  • Communication skills, both written and oral, suitable for academic and professional audiences.
  • Student mentoring and advising skills, especially for career readiness and professional development.
  • Ability to mentor students in applied research or practice-based projects.
  • Knowledge of and ability to enact experiential learning models.

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D. in Intelligence Studies, National Security Studies, Information Warfare, Strategic Studies, International Relations, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated professional experience in innovative teaching methods, specifically in synchronous and asynchronous online modalities.
  • Relevant experience working in/with one or more of the Intelligence Community (IC) member organizations.
  • A DoD or IC security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a workload typical for a career track faculty within ENGR defined as 80% related to teaching and 20% related to service.
  • Teach undergraduate level courses at multiple sites using a variety of formats, including on campus and online.
  • Engage students in active learning, encouraging class participation, and provide support in completing class assignments/projects.
  • Manage classroom interactions and establish and maintain a climate that encourages learning across multiple delivery platforms.
  • Develop/prepare course syllabi, assignments, and activities for course delivery.
  • Prepare and deliver course lectures/workshops.
  • Critique and grade student assignments and examinations.
  • Participate in advising and mentoring students.
  • Maintain regular in-person and virtual office hours and/or be available to students by appointment.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues across disciplinary lines.
  • Assist in the development of innovative approaches to enhancing student engagement and expanding collaborations with community and business partners.
  • Contribute to the service responsibilities of ENGR and the University of Arizona, in part through participation on committees and student mentoring, including those from underrepresented backgrounds.
  • Contribute to ENGR and the University of Arizona's development through appropriate outreach to local communities (including government units, businesses, nonprofit organizations, and area residents).
