About The Position

The University of Akron, one of Ohio's leading public institutions of higher learning, is seeking a full-time faculty member to teach in the new Associate of Applied Science in Nursing Program. This is a full-time 9-month non-tenure track position. The program is conducted in-person at The University of Akron Wayne College Campus in Orrville, Ohio. Faculty rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Requirements

Master's in Nursing or closely related discipline required.
An unrestricted registered nurse licensure in the State of Ohio or current multi-state license.
Must have a minimum of two years of experience working as a Registered Nurse.
Current medical surgical, pharmacology, or assessment clinical competency, knowledge, and skills.
Current BLS certification
Proficiency in interpersonal, communication and organizational skills (verbal, written and electronic) necessary to interact effectively with students, faculty, professional staff, administration, clinical affiliates, and the community.

Nice To Haves

2 years of teaching experience.
Knowledge and skill of maneuvering computer software (Brightspace, Microsoft Word, Excel, & PowerPoint and other related educational platforms).
Recent clinical nursing experience or teaching experience.
Skills in goal setting and team building.
Analytical and organizational skills to plan, implement, and evaluate course and program activities.

Responsibilities

Teaching in the associate of applied science in nursing program including didactic, lab and clinical courses. The focus of the position will be Medical-Surgical Nursing, Health Assessment, and Pharmacology. The individual in this position is not responsible for completing research.
Evaluating student performance.
Assist in managing clinical placements including expanding clinical sites.
Serve on program, school, college and university-wide committees as assigned.
Maintain a program of personal, professional growth through activities such as engaging in scholarly activity, university and community service and other pursuits commensurate with faculty rank and status.
Supporting University, College and School of Nursing goals to assure compliance with accreditation and/or licensure.
