About The Position

The School of Sciences, Computing, and Artificial Intelligence at Louisiana Christian University seeks to fill a tenure-track position in Biology to begin August 1, 2026. Qualifications: The successful candidate should hold a terminal degree (Ph.D.) in Biology or an allied field. The ability to teach courses to both non-science majors and upper-level science students A lifestyle consistent with a Christian worldview The ability to integrate Christian faith into traditional coursework Applicants will need to demonstrate teaching competencies in both lecture and laboratory Biology courses that will include the candidate's specialty area, as well as other specific needs in the department. Courses are delivered in face-to-face, online, and hybrid formats. The position also requires that the faculty member be available for advising students and service on university committees. Faculty development through scholarship activities, including travel and research with undergraduates, is strongly encouraged, and funding is available through an endowment. Applicants need to demonstrate the ability to engage students in affective learning strategies both in the classroom and online. The responsibilities of the position include teaching, advising, participating in program assessment, student recruitment, and committee responsibilities. Scholarship is encouraged with funding available through an endowment. The successful candidate will engage with the administration, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and the community. Requirements

  • Hold a terminal degree (Ph.D.) in Biology or an allied field
  • A lifestyle consistent with a Christian worldview
  • The ability to integrate Christian faith into traditional coursework
  • Demonstrate teaching competencies in both lecture and laboratory Biology courses that will include the candidate's specialty area, as well as other specific needs in the department
  • Must be familiar with word processing software and have a basic understanding of computers and their application in an academic setting
  • Ability to motivate students to excel
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to teach through a variety of mechanisms to effectively instruct students
  • Must be a visible CHRISTIAN leader and give witness as a person who lives a life that honors the Lord Jesus Christ and is consonant with the Statement of Christian Standards of Louisiana Christian University and the Baptist Faith
