About The Position

The Division of Computing, Analytics & Mathematics (CAM) is seeking applications and nominations for multiple tenure-track/tenure-eligible faculty positions in Computer Science at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level, starting in Spring or Fall 2026. Areas of interest include AI, Data Science, and other emerging fields. Strong candidates in all areas of Computer Science will be considered. CAM is one of the four divisions in the School of Science and Engineering (SSE). The CAM Division offers undergraduate degrees in Computer Science (ABET-accredited), Information Technology (ABET-accredited), and Mathematics; M.S. degrees in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, and Statistics; and a Ph.D. in Computer Science. CAM also contributes to the interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in Natural Sciences by offering an emphasis in Mathematics/Statistics. These programs foster an open, collaborative research and education environment. The existing Computer Science research focuses on AI, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, Edge Computing, IoT, and Software Engineering. The new hires will undertake research and education initiatives to strengthen the current areas and mentor our diverse student population. CAM is instrumental to the University of Missouri System's NextGen Data Science and Analytics Innovation Center (dSAIC), which supports university research across the state and plays a critical role in the region's health, business, and workforce development. dSAIC is based at UMKC and operates in partnership with the University of Missouri-Columbia. CAM faculty have joint projects with the UMKC Missouri Institute of Defense and Energy (MIDE), School of Pharmacy, School of Medicine, and the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. MIDE is founded on bridging fundamental physics with applied engineering to solve longstanding challenges in the defense, energy, and related commercial sectors. The SSE recently added a new $40M ($23M building and $17M equipment), 58,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility to support multidisciplinary education, research, and economic development initiatives. Some of the key components of this new facility are AR/VR Lab, Innovation Studio & 3D Printing Lab, and High-Performance Computing Lab. https://sse.umkc.edu/about-us/
