About The Position

Carew Concrete & Supply Co., Inc. is seeking an Assistant Area Manager to join our team at our Green Bay plant! This team member plays a critical leadership role in supporting the Area Manager and driving operational and sales success across the region. This position helps lead the organization by fostering a culture of safety, superior customer service, operational efficiency, revenue growth and continuous improvement. The Assistant Area Manager partners closely with the Area Manager to strengthen customer relationships, execute bid strategy, and identify opportunities to increase volume, pricing performance, and market share. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who leads by example, builds strong relationships with customers and team members, drives performance through Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and supports both operational excellence and strategic growth.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of proven leadership experience in operations, manufacturing, construction materials, or related industry
  • Strong understanding of operational KPIs and performance management
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and develop team members
  • Experience in budgeting and cost management
  • Strong communication and customer relationship skills
  • Ability to analyze data and make sound business decisions
  • Commitment to safety and operational excellence

Responsibilities

  • Provide coaching and mentorship to plant managers and operations team members.

  • Support the Area Manager in driving operational performance and accountability.
  • Ensure best-practice processes and systems are followed across operations.
  • Promote a culture of preventive maintenance for plants and rolling stock.
  • Focus teams on achieving labor and equipment performance KPIs.
  • Identify root causes of operational challenges and implement corrective actions.
  • Encourage continuous improvement through measurable performance tracking.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers.
  • Support execution of the company’s bid strategy in partnership with the Area Manager.
  • Gather and communicate competitive market intelligence.
  • Track and manage Sales KPIs including volume, average selling price, and margin.
  • Identify and pursue profitable growth opportunities within the region.
  • Assist in developing and achieving the regional operating budget.
  • Collaborate on forward-looking capital expenditure planning.
  • Make sound business decisions that increase revenue, reduce costs, or improve safety and environmental performance.
  • Evaluate vendors and purchasing decisions from a total-cost perspective.
