About The Position

As an Assistant Area Manager with the Westinghouse Parts Business (WPB), you will help support the WPB Fulfillment team at our New Stanton facility. This site plays a critical role in bolstering nuclear plant safety and reliability by delivering instrumentation & control, mechanical, and electro-mechanical products and services to customers across the globe. You will oversee the Breaker Shop and Machine Shop. You will report to the Manager of Mechanical and Breaker products and will be located at our New Stanton, PA facility.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or recognized equivalent required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • 3 or more years of experience as a manager, supervisor, or team lead in a manufacturing or production setting preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
  • Experience with SAP, particularly in production execution, requisitioning, and material master data management, is strongly desired.
  • General understanding of mechanical manufacturing, machining, breaker repair, or quality inspection processes preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, communicate, and monitor shop resources to ensure effective utilization of personnel, equipment, and materials in support of safety, quality, cost, and delivery objectives.
  • Lead daily and periodic team meetings with shop technicians to review workload, priorities, performance, and safety expectations.
  • Foster a strong safety and quality focused culture through active reinforcement of Human Performance principles.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, regulatory, quality, and workplace requirements. Perform regular observations of work activities to identify and address unfavorable trends.
  • Communicate identified gaps or risks and coordinate support from cross-functional teams as needed.
  • Lead, support, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to shop layout, equipment, processes, and workflow efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Planning, Manufacturing Engineering, and shop technicians to develop accurate labor hour estimates for contract proposals.
  • Establish work priorities and provide timely feedback to internal customers and requesters when adjustments are required.
  • Conduct employee performance evaluations and make recommendations regarding compensation, promotions, transfers, and other personnel actions.
  • Interview, select, and hire talent to support current and future staffing needs.
  • Manage departmental headcount planning and oversee onboarding of new employees.
  • Ensure training, qualifications, and certifications are identified, documented, maintained, and aligned with both near-term needs and long-term talent development.
