About The Position

Under immediate supervision, assists with data gathering and organization, preparing pricing analyses, reserve analyses, experience, and profitability reviews and/or state rate filings in support of the business unit. Key Responsibilities Intro Relying on instructions and pre-established guidelines, this role is responsible for accomplishing the following assignments as guided by others. These assignments are varied in nature.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 Year / Bachelors Degree of Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, a related field, or the equivalent education and/or experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant and progressive professional experience.
  • Minimum up to four actuarial exams, preferred at least two CAS exams.
  • Experience with data management, programming, or analytics, preferably in insurance or related field
  • Knowledge of data analysis, actuarial principles, and an understanding of data interdependencies
  • Ability to work with business end-users within Actuarial, UW and Claims, at all levels of the organization including senior leadership
  • Detail oriented, diligent, and thorough
  • Requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a commitment to developing an actuarial knowledge base
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good organizational skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office package (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Experience with programming languages or statistical modeling packages (e.g., R, Python, etc.)
  • Proficiency and experience using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and designing and improving queries using T-SQL

Responsibilities

  • Support activities with respect to data preparation and integration
  • Prepare routine data reports and submissions
  • Build and improve on the availability, integrity, accuracy, and reliability of data and data pipelines
  • Regularly monitor issues surrounding Actuarial data and processes, making sure solutions continue to work and are well documented
  • Identify opportunities for automation and implement with supervisor approval
  • Prepare rate filings, working cooperatively with other areas such as Underwriting and Compliance
  • Assist in preparing rate indications and recommendations
  • Assist with monitoring price levels and profitability through periodic analyses
  • Assist in developing and delivering tools to drive appropriate portfolio and policy level decision making
  • Assist in product development by estimating impacts of new or enhanced coverages and preparing rate pages and filing support
  • Assist with loss and LAE reserve analyses
  • Develop a foundational knowledge of the functions performed by the Actuarial department and how the department relates to other functional areas of the organization
