We are seeking an individual who is ambitious, self-motivated and who strives to represent HAPO’s core commitment “Be in the Moment” and standard of service “Defy Expectations” with our members, community as well as the team they are a part of. The Asset Recovery Generalist is responsible for performing a wide range of duties, including but not limited to bankruptcy processing, charge-off and recovery, repossession support, compliance assistance, foreclosure activities, remarketing, and project-related tasks. The role will rotate among team members to ensure cross-functional coverage and continuity.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate (required)
  • Associate degree required
  • Must be able to work 35-40 hours a week between the hours of 8:30am – 6:30pm M-F with occasional Saturdays required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
  • Four (4) Asset Recovery Specialist (Collector) or Credit Union Back Office experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Provide support across all Asset Recovery functions and cross-functional tasks (legal, repossession, bankruptcy, collections)
  • Maintain vendor management records and ensure timely service delivery
  • Assist with departmental tasks, including mail processing, check posting, debt management proposals, payment research, and other administrative duties as assigned
  • Process Chapter 7, 11 and Chapter 13 bankruptcies, including filing claims and updating systems
  • Handle garnishments, foreclosures, and legal claims
  • Maintain general ledgers and submit NCUA Call Reports
  • Assign repossession orders and manage vendor relationships
  • Process impounds, insurance claims, and auction documentation
  • Review auction reports and ensure accurate sale postings
