About The Position

The Asset Protection Investigator is responsible for protecting and improving profitability for the Donated Goods division in detecting, reporting, and resolving matters in Asset Protection, inventory shortage, cash handling, and theft at stores and trailers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education and experience.
  • Prior Asset Protection experience in a retail setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish/Creole) is highly desirable.
  • Ability to write reports.
  • Ability to handle difficult situations with diplomacy.
  • Ability to perceive situations accurately.
  • Ability to maintain a fair, consistent set of standards, using judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to maintain records and documentation.
  • Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job.
  • Ability to type reports summit in a timely matter.
  • Ability to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organization, and follow-through skills.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, to see or hear activity in the store, and perform all functions as set forth above.
  • Microsoft office computer literate.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct monthly audits of any assigned Goodwill location.
  • Conduct periodic ADC surveillance when needed.
  • Responsible for initiating external and internal investigations based on the above audit outcomes and obtaining information from store personnel.
  • Supervise and protect store assets, property, clients, and employees using precise investigative methods.
  • Complete every investigation report on time.
  • Maintain documentation of all Asset Protection activity.
  • Ensure all responsibilities are completed daily, weekly, and monthly.
  • Interact with store management to support them in understanding the Asset Protection department.
  • Maintain professional and amicable relations with local law enforcement agencies to obtain assistance as needed.
  • Enforce all security conditions, rules, and regulations at any assigned Goodwill location.
  • Ensure Goodwill’s locations and employees comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor closed circuit television systems, when applicable.
  • Assist in installing and programming CCTV equipment when needed.
  • Participate in the store's Asset Protection and safety programs.
  • Assist the department in every aspect related to Asset Protection.
  • All other duties as assigned.
