About The Position

Responsible for identification and assessment of Business Personal property, inventory, and accurate maintenance of all related records. This position reports to the Assessor Chief Deputy.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED plus knowledge of a specialized field (however acquired), such as basic accounting, computer, etc. Equivalent of four years in high school, plus night, trade extension, or correspondence school specialized training, equal to two years of college, plus 4 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and policy/procedure manuals; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • AACD Personal Property Level 1; IAAO Level 2 required
  • Advanced: Spreadsheet, Word Processing/Typing
  • Employee should possess the ability to work well within a group atmosphere and be an excellent team player as well as have excellent supervisory skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures the mailing of business assessment worksheets on an annual basis or as needed by customer.
  • Reviews worksheets to check for accuracy of reporting.
  • Select appropriate method of assessment based on acquisition price, market value or square footage of floor space.
  • Compute assessed value based on method used.
  • Notify owners of any changes needed in the report of property values.
  • Contact businesses that have not assessed to initiate assessment purposes.
  • Supervise the calculation of value from worksheets and input into computer.
  • Defends property values before the Equalization Board for appeal assessments.
  • Performs weekly reports to avoid data input errors.
  • Collects time sheets from personal property department and submits to Chief Deputy.
  • Maintains airplane inventory of local airport for assessment purposes.
  • Complies with all ACD statutes required for business assessments.
  • Extensive customer contact including both verbal and written correspondence.
  • Work front counter (personal property) as needed.
  • All other jobs as assigned by supervisor.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Benefits

  • This position is scheduled works Monday/Friday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM with some evenings required depending upon the workload, with paid holidays off.
  • Bilingual pay of $2,080 is available once proficiency has been established.
  • Group health, dental and life insurance is paid by the County for the employee’s coverage provided the employee obtains a wellness check within designated time frame.
  • For employee retirement, the County contributes 15.32% per pay period of the employee’s gross towards the employee’s retirement through the Arkansas Public Employees’ Retirement System.
