About The Position

Leads assembly personnel in a hands-on role to produce products in compliance with quality, safety, and productivity requirements. Manages day-to-day planning, operations and problem-solving in order to meet the required level of production.

Requirements

  • A minimum of five years of mechanical/electrical repair, combined with leadership experience in a formal or informal capacity. High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate detailed information to co-workers, management, vendors, suppliers, and customers.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact in a positive and professional manner to develop and maintain strong working relationships with co-workers, management, suppliers, and customers.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as job orders, procedure manuals, and schematics (blueprints).
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Skill in the fabrication, joining, and repair of a variety of metal objects, equipment, fixtures, and structures.
  • Ability to use department equipment, such as forklift, ladder/scaffold, overhead crane, power tools, and copy machine.

Responsibilities

  • All essential functions for either a Mechanical Assembler III, Electrical Assembler III or Electro-Mechanical Assembler II.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities including training and development; planning, assigning, and directing work; approving weekly timecards; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems; and coaching and counseling.
  • Manage consumable usage in the assembly department and stay within the established budget.
  • Oversees safety regulations by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; secures tools, materials, and equipment at the end of the day.
  • Ensures work orders are properly followed and completed in a timely fashion.
  • Manage projects and timelines based on production schedules.
  • Lead and direct the work of others as required to complete the assemblies.
  • Oversee machine final inspection to ensure zero (0) quality defects.
  • Contributes to team effort by actively participating in department meetings.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • General maintenance on equipment and the assigned area in the department, as well as organizing and cleaning the shop.
