The Aseptic Plant Manager plays a key role in executing assigned Aseptic tasks. This includes ensuring that the aseptic products manufactured conform to company-defined product quality standards, as well as Federal, State, and local standards of product identity, safety, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Byrne Headquartered in LaFayette, Byrne is a Central New York-based dairy company with a legacy spanning over 90 years. Its operations include an extended shelf-life (ESL) and ultra-high temperature (UHT) pasteurization plant in DeWitt, as well as an ESL manufacturing facility in Cortlandville. Byrne also maintains warehouse facilities in Syracuse and East Syracuse, along with a dedicated ice cream center in Syracuse. As a recognized industry leader, Byrne continues to drive innovation at the forefront of dairy processing and product development.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of OSHA, PMO, ESPH, SQF, Aseptic, and FDA requirements

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the aseptic plant in its entirety and direct plant operations in the achievement of safety, quality, production, and cost, objectives.
  • With maintenance, develop preventative maintenance programs and ensure that they are sustained to ensure quality, and reduction of unplanned downtime on all aseptic production equipment, associated equipment, including utilities feeding aseptic.
  • Ensure an appropriate volume of production and raw inventories for each product produced to maximize machine efficiencies and minimize down time and stock outs.
  • Manage aseptic plant budget and expenses to fall within, or better than plan.
  • Manage all plant variances to meet or exceed plan including, but not limited to, headcount, overtime, and spending.
  • Ensure that the quality of products produced at the facility is consistent with intended design and desired image.
  • Coordinate with Plant Production Scheduler, Warehouse Management and Supply Management to ensure needed dry goods are on hand as required.
  • Provide planning assistance with physical inventories and provide staffing to perform these activities; always ensure accuracy of all inventories.
  • Ensure reporting mechanism regarding KPI are in-place and functioning; ensure monthly reporting of critical KPI to company leadership and plant staff.
  • Monitor intake procedures of raw dairy products to assure quality standards are met.
  • Contributes to the development of budgets and cost controls.
  • Ensure direct reports analyze, budget, and control spending for their respective line accounts.
  • Facilitate the development of strategies and corrective actions to resolve quality issues as necessary.
  • Implements and maintains manufacturing policies, procedures, and production control programs.
  • Must ensure full compliance with all quality assurance standards.
  • Provide for the development, prioritization, and execution of capital improvement projects within the aseptic facility.
  • Provide leadership for effective employee relations through positive communication, coaching, training, problem resolution/corrective actions, and floor time, work cooperatively with Human Resources.
  • Coordinate production activities with purchasing, sales, warehousing, distribution, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of staff and equipment.
  • Work closely with Tetra Pak to develop and schedule TPMS events in addition to negotiating contracted annual work.
  • Provide for the personal and professional growth of team through coaching, feedback, and opportunity.
  • Foster participation of the workforce to enhance awareness and cooperation.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and all government regulations; Ensure compliance and enforcement of all work rules and regulations to plant operations and all applicable employees.
