About The Position

The School of Arts and Sciences is seeking a competent and dynamic Manager of Finance and Administration to oversee and manage both financial and administrative/operational functions within the School, which includes the academic departments of Humanities, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, and Business/Public Administration. This role requires expertise in fiscal management, with a focus on directing, planning, and controlling a general fund budget of approximately $6.7 million and a restricted fund budget of around $1.2 million, ensuring effective financial oversight, budget adjustments, and comprehensive financial reporting. In addition to fiscal responsibility, the Manager of Finance and Administration will closely collaborate with Arts & Sciences staff to fulfill a variety of administrative tasks including but not limited to operations, travel, course scheduling, and human resources.This position demands strategic oversight of personnel matters and coordination with the HR department to ensure timely execution of all personnel actions. The successful candidate will also be responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans to enhance administrative operations, ensuring compliance with university, state, and federal regulations, and continuously improving processes for greater efficiency and productivity. This position is part of a dynamic, small Dean’s Office team within the UAS School of Arts & Sciences. Our programs take full advantage of the majesty of beautiful Southeast Alaska, which includes the famed Inside Passage—a majestic array of islands, channels, and fjords abutting coastal mountains, icefields, and glaciers. Our students have opportunities for field study and research in the Tongass National Forest, in intertidal marine environments, and on nearby icefields. Our Juneau Campus is located in Alaska’s capital city, which provides opportunities for student internships in Alaska’s legislature. Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field and five years of progressively responsible experience in fiscal/budget supervision, business/educational management and administration, employee supervision, and/or team leadership; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
