Job Summary Assists in providing a safe and secure environment for employees, physicians, patients, and visitors by providing a visible deterrence to crime and responding to calls of assistance. Essential Functions All team members are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Prisma Health's values: Inspire health. Serve with compassion. Be the difference. Responds quickly and effectively to emergent and non-emergent situations. Ensures only authorized personnel are admitted into Hospital after hours or as required. Escorts visitors, patients and personnel to and from parking areas. Assists motorists as needed on campus. Writes accurate, clear and legible security incident reports. Responds to emergency calls for assistance to control disorderly conduct or combative individuals. Patrols buildings and grounds; inspects doors and windows. Patrols parking areas to detect any irregularities. Assists and gives courteous responses to any inquiries made by patients, visitors or personnel. Assists law enforcement officers when requested. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education - High school diploma, GED or equivalent preferred
  • Experience - No experience required. One (1) year experience preferred. Healthcare setting preferred.
  • SLED security officer license must be obtained within four (4) weeks after employment.
  • Completion of International Association for Hospital Security and Safety security officer certification within twelve (12) months of hire date.
  • May require valid driver's license and an acceptable three-year motor vehicle record as defined by Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Chart. Driving may be required for this position using a Prisma Health vehicle. Employee may be required to pass driver training. If driving is required, employees will be expected to adhere to the Prisma Health Driver Safety Policy and specific driving policies.
  • Knowledge of State Laws of Arrest, Search and Seizure
  • Knowledge of Non-Violent Crisis Intervention tactics
  • Knowledge of Use of Force and Defensive Tactics
  • Ability to pass Defensive Driving course
  • Weapons qualification is required for some posts.
