The Area Sales Manager (ASM) is responsible for driving sales performance, expanding the customer base, and fostering strong customer relationships within a defined geographic area, with a focus on driving sales growth and managing a team of sales representatives. Develop sales strategies, analyze market trends, and provide guidance and coaching to sales representatives to drive effective sales performance.

  • Establish clear sales objectives for each team member to ensure alignment and accountability.
  • Develop and implement sales plans to achieve revenue targets and exceed sales goals.
  • Direct sales forecasting activities and set performance goals accordingly.
  • Lead, motivate, and coach a sales team to achieve performance goals, providing guidance, training, and support.
  • Educate and train the team on new products and services to enhance their capabilities.
  • Direct staffing, training, and performance evaluations for team members in the assigned region.
  • Conduct market research to identify new sales opportunities, analyze competitor activity, and understand customer needs.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Oversee sales activities, manage quotas and budgets, and track sales performance.
  • Identify areas for improvement in sales processes and implement strategies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provide regular reports on sales performance, market trends, and competitor activity.
  • Effectively communicate with sales teams, clients, and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless collaboration and informed decision-making.
  • Continually monitor and track regional sales performance.
  • Attend trade shows and conventions as needed.
  • Manage all financial aspects related to the assigned region.
  • Other duties as assigned by leadership.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry sales experience.
  • Minimum of 5 + years of relevant sales experience.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems (HubSpot) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proven ability to manage and grow B2B customer accounts.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving team performance.
  • Willingness to travel within the assigned area.
  • Must pass background and drug testing as required by federal and/or state department(s) of transportation regulations.
  • Delegate work assignments by matching the responsibility to the employee.
  • Effective leadership skills and the ability to motivate and inspire staff.
  • Be organized. Follow all policies and procedures and complete administrative tasks correctly and on time.
  • Ability to manage difficult or emotional situations with both customers and employees.
  • Observe and follow all safety and security procedures.
