About The Position

The Area Manager, Extended Stay Performance is a field-based consultant responsible for advising franchised extended stay hotel owners and property leaders on operational strategies to improve performance, efficiency, and guest satisfaction. Operating primarily via phone and video, this role leverages Choice Hotels’ extended stay resources to drive results. The Area Manager builds trusted relationships, monitors performance metrics, and supports brand program adoption across a designated portfolio. Success requires strong consultative skills, time management, and the ability to influence without direct authority.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years in hotel leadership or franchise consulting.
  • Extensive hotel operations experience required; extended stay preferred.
  • Proven success in limited service and/or extended stay hotel performance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with AI tools (Copilot, ChatGPT) and Choice platforms.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to influence without authority.
  • Effective training and consulting skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
  • Self-motivated and results driven.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience considered.

Responsibilities

  • Provide extended stay–specific operational consultation to franchised hotel owners and operators.
  • Guide franchisees on profitability, guest retention, and ancillary revenue strategies.
  • Foster strong relationships to drive owner engagement and best practice adoption.
  • Analyze performance metrics (EssOcc, ALOS, LTR, QAR, RPI, STR, Compliance Zone) to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Advise on revenue levers including Construct Connect, local sales planning, and pricing promotions.
  • Recommend corrective actions for guest satisfaction issues (cleanliness, safety, service).
  • Support implementation of extended stay tools and resources.
  • Document consultation outcomes and maintain records in Salesforce.
  • Assist with onboarding and relicensing of new franchise owners.
  • Ensure training and certification compliance via Choice University.
  • Collaborate with Revenue Management and Franchise Development teams.
  • Share market intelligence and best practices across departments.
  • Participate in franchise associations and brand initiatives.
  • Model Choice’s cultural values and support interdepartmental initiatives.
