About The Position

The Architectural Designer Co-op/Intern position is an exciting opportunity to join PM Group’s quickly growing Boston area team out of Burlington, MA. Together we are sharing knowledge, learning, growing, and continuing to be an integral part of supporting PM Group’s ongoing expansion in the US. Our office is executing cutting-edge projects for Cell & Gene Therapy, Biologics, and Pharma facilities – from feasibility through to qualification – for both local and international clients. Together with our clients and partners, we will deliver projects that improve the everyday lives of people across the globe. This individual needs to have a basic understanding of the technical aspects of architectural design and a desire to learn the nuances of the Life Sciences design build industry. The ability to successfully handle multiple real-time project and operational tasks as well as maintain a strong work ethic and drive to deliver for clients as a collaborative colleague are a must for this role. The Architectural Designer Co-op/Intern will be mentored by Architects and will assist with the development of design documents. Expect project work to include all levels of design including but not limited to feasibility studies, conceptual & schematic design, construction documentation, and construction administration. Project sizes will vary and will consist primarily of life science industry projects ranging from existing building improvements and to large new greenfield facilities. Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor of Architecture degree or Masters of Architecture degree
  • Interest in the Life Sciences / pharmaceutical industry
  • Understanding and/or experience with rendering software such as Enscape and Rino (Revit is a plus)
  • Computer literate with good experience working with MS Word and Excel
  • Good, written and spoken, communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Learn and work with design software: Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, Sketchup, etc.
  • Work with Architects to assist in producing designs, in accordance with project requirements, though all stages of the project including researching building codes and government regulations, writing project specifications and procedures
  • Interface with material and equipment vendors and Engineering disciplines to ensure the highest level of service is provided
  • Interact and communicate with project team members, clients and other internal/external parties to ensure co-ordination of activities
  • Liaise with senior colleagues and mentors as appropriate
  • Demonstrate an understanding of scope of work assigned
  • Demonstrate an understanding of commercial aspects (hours and capital cost) of your work
  • Use initiative in problem solving and make decisions under the direction of others
  • Demonstrate knowledge of PM Group and/or industry standard methodologies and tools
  • Under supervision, prepare technical documents in accordance with agreed schedules and report progress in a timely fashion to avoid any undue delays
  • Carry out site visits/site surveys if needed
  • Keep abreast of current technology, regulations and industry standards within the practice of Architecture
  • Special projects as required
