A doctorate degree and the appropriate internship or clinical training in counseling, guidance or a job-related field may be substituted for two years of the required professional experience for positions with a major responsibility for professional, personal or career counseling. Education: Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field plus upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques, interviewing and conflict resolution where such are job related. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree and/or Ph.D/Ed.D in education, student development, ethnic studies, or other academic field related to the primary duties of the position; Demonstrated experience working effectively to support the academic success and social integration of Asian American and Pacific Islander students in a higher education setting; and Proven understanding of and ability to appropriately apply student development theories as they relate to students of color and other historically marginalized student populations as well as social justice models of organizational change. Environmental/Physical/Special Must be able to competently interact with a culturally and ethnically diverse population of students, faculty, and staff.
