About The Position

RESPONSIBILITIES Essential Functions Responsibilities include fostering a positive and collaborative team environment, managing incident reporting and trainee communications, and supporting curriculum implementation. The position also contributes to developing future programs, ensuring excellence in operations and alignment with organizational goals. Oversee daily aquatics operations to ensure efficiency and safety. Enforce facility safety standards and standard operating procedures. Maintain and coordinate staff training on Emergency Action Plans. Provide professional development and counseling for lifeguards. Issue verbal write-ups for staff infractions as necessary. Collaborate with planning and operations teams to schedule staff and activities. Supervise inter-departmental communications and updates regarding activities. Track and manage incident reporting and investigations. Communicate with parents or guardians of trainees when needed. Regulate activities and programs, ensuring proper implementation of curriculum. Contribute to the development of future programs. Supervisory Responsibilities : Yes Level of Supervision: This position adheres to organizational policies and applicable laws while instructing, coaching, and encouraging staff to embody the mission and vision of the Center through their actions and example. It requires demonstrating good judgment in supervising staff and effectively monitoring their performance, offering appropriate coaching, counseling, or supervision as needed. Timely and accurate completion of staff evaluations and related documentation is essential. Additionally, the role serves as an effective role model by exhibiting an exemplary work ethic and professionalism.

Requirements

  • High School or G.E.D.
  • Some college preferred.
  • Current Lifeguard (including waterfront)/CPR/First Aid/AED certification or the ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
  • Current NAUI Teaching Assistant/ Rescue Diver/ Nitrox certifications or equivalent with the ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
  • Lifeguard (including waterfront) /CPR/First Aid/AED Instructor-level certification or the ability to obtain within six months of employment.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience working as a professional lifeguard or medical first responder.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead staff, trainees, and guests of all ages in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Requires walking and climbing stairs to access various departments, buildings, training center floors, and the museum.
  • Swimming to participate in activities required by camp programs and standing for extended periods (4-6 hours) to direct staff and trainees, conduct lectures, and operate simulators as needed.
  • Pushing, carrying, and lifting boxes, supplies, and equipment up to or over 50 lbs to waist height, as well as bending, kneeling, and reaching to store or retrieving supplies.
  • Requires sight, reading, wrist movements, and feeling to operate simulators, review schedules, and write reports.
  • Effective communication is essential, including talking and hearing to instruct staff and trainees and assist guests in person and over the phone.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
