About The Position

The Aquatics Manager reports to the Director of Sports and Recreation and is responsible for the daily operation of the pool facility. This includes hiring, training, and scheduling lifeguards, ensuring staff supervision, and maintaining the facility to the highest standards. The Aquatics Manager oversees pool safety, water quality, and sanitation while ensuring compliance with all regulations. Additionally, this role organizes swimming activities, supervises private events, and provides high-quality swimming instruction for Members and guests. The Aquatics Manager is also responsible for certifying lifeguard staff, conducting weekly in-service training, and upholding the highest safety and service standards.

Requirements

  • Current Lifeguard Instructor Trainer Certification from a recognized organization (e/g., American Red Cross, YMCA, or equivalent).
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certification required.
  • Certified Water Safety Instructor certification.
  • Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers.
  • Previous lifeguarding experience.
  • Strong swimming skills and the ability to remain alert for extended periods.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with Members, guest, and staff professionally.
  • Ability to enforce rules and respond effectively in emergency situations.
  • Following guidance and direction from senior management effectively, efficiently, and appropriately.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work, both with a team and independently.
  • Exhibits communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and react quickly to any issues which arise during a shift.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time (8-10 hours consistently).
  • Frequent exposure to high temperatures and direct sunlight in an outdoor pool environment.
  • Must have the physical endurance and strength to swim and perform water rescues in a variety of conditions.
  • Must be able to respond quickly to emergencies, which may require running, jumping, or diving into the water.
  • Requires bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
  • Must have the visual and auditory ability to recognize and respond to emergencies in and around the pool area.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains, analyzes, and submits records related to daily activities and water conditions.
  • Manage all information regarding rescues, accidents, first aid and Member incidents.
  • Review and ensure all bills are accurately completed for Members participating in aquatics activities.
  • Manage departmental budgets, monitor expenses, and ensure resources efficiency across all member service functions.
  • Responsible for scheduling and conducting all swimming lessons at the pool, ensuring high-quality instruction for Members and guests.
  • Maintain open communication with the Sports and Recreation Director regarding department operations and needs.
  • Report regularly to Executive Management on departmental performance, member satisfaction, and areas for improvement.
  • Communicate with Club membership professionally and effectively to ensure the high quality of service is consistently met.
  • Collet and analyze member feedback to continuously improve service offerings and ensure the highest standard of member satisfaction.
  • Strong understanding of Club platforms including Northstar.
  • Strong follow up with email correspondence.
  • Curiosity to seek and find solutions not just to implement standard responsibilities and directives.
  • General knowledge of the Club's emergency action plan to execute if necessary.
  • Develops and manages lifeguard work schedules to ensure adequate staffing and coverage for all pool-related activities.
  • Ensures the pool facility remains safe, clean, and visually appealing, including locker rooms, bathrooms, upper terrace, pool deck, and surrounding play areas.
  • Hires, trains and develops in-service training programs for lifeguards.
  • Plans, organizes, and supervises swimming activities and special events for Members and guests.
  • Oversees facility operations, completing facility reports and notifying the Clubhouse Manager of any maintenance issues.
  • Enforces Club safety and conduct rules at the pool facility.
  • Develops and implements a pool safety program.
  • Works with the Director of Sports and Recreation and Swimming Committee Chair to develop and execute special events.
  • Demonstrates a continuous effort to improve operations and streamline procedures.
  • Respects the Club's customs and traditions, preserving Rolling Rock Club as a "quiet county English Manor."
  • Maintains regular, consistent, and reliable attendance.
  • Other related assignments as necessary.
