About The Position

Job Summary Oversee all aspects of daily operations at the waterfront, which includes supervising the lifeguards. Provide potentially life-saving supervision for campers and staff at the pool and/or waterfront, ensuring that all individuals use the area safely and adhere to proper behaviors. Enforce pool rules and implement Stars Camp's safety and emergency procedures. Essential Responsibilities Provides waterfront presence for both staff and campers in order to always ensure safety and excellent customer service. Train and manage waterfront staff in all aspects of swim programming. Prevent emergencies by scanning the pool in a continuous and consistent manner. Enforce pool rules authoritatively and productively. Handle issues in ways that ensure safety, maintain authority, and enhance the camper and workplace experience. Perform swim instruction for all campers and ensure proper staff to participant ratios are adhered to regarding free and instructional swim. Always ensure a clean and safe pool environment. Works with Camp Directors to schedule waterfront programs/activities. Oversees swim class logistics. Orchestrates level advancements and skill progressions. Ensure class curriculum is followed. Recognize emergencies or potential incidents and address them immediately. Know and activate the branch and pool EAP when needed. Provide care such as CPR/ First Aid as needed. Complete incident reports in a timely and effective manner. Assist with cleaning and testing of the pool. Participate in all safety and drills and facility preparation. Attend all in-service training and orientation. Make sure all gates and doors are secure against unauthorized entry and set for emergency egress, and locked when a lifeguard is not on duty. Never leave the pool unattended. Ensures proper storage, maintenance and usage of all PFD’s including, life jackets, ring buoys and lifeguard tubes. Engage in active listening with members in order to build relationships, understand everyone's goals and interests, and take the initiative to assist in the achievement of those goals. Maintain a professional image and manner consistent with the Stars mission and goals at all times. Perform other duties as required by Camp Directors. Demonstrate a willingness to help where needed. Seasonal role from July 20th - August 21st Hours: 8:30AM- 3:30PM

Requirements

  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Must have at least one year or summer session of lifeguarding experience.
  • Must have at least one year experience supervising aquatics area.
  • Physically and verbally able to interact with children and staff.
  • Must be able to scan the pool visually.
  • Must be able to hear calls for assistance, calls of distress, and verbal communications from other lifeguards and camp staff.
  • May be required to sit or stand for an extended period of time.
  • At times, be able to lift up to 50 lbs., use rescue equipment, and lift, hold, and carry individuals using the pool/waterfront.
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate or equivalent
  • Mandated Reporter Training
  • Concussion Training

  • Health Care Consultant Training
