What is the position: To perform maintenance, repair, and overhaul of Auxiliary Power Units (APUs) and associated components in accordance with company, manufacturer, and FAA requirements.

Requirements

  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate required
  • Minimum 2–3 years of aviation maintenance experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to interpret technical data
  • Ability to read and understand AMMs, CMMs, IPCs, and engineering documents
  • Experience using hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and shop equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a shop environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in turbine engine or APU maintenance or component repair
  • Previous backshop or component-level repair experience (Part 121 or Part 145)
  • Familiarity with borescope inspections, teardown, and build processes
  • Troubleshooting and fault isolation experience on engine/APU systems
  • Experience with maintenance tracking systems (AMOS preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Perform disassembly, inspection, repair, assembly, and functional testing of APUs and APU component
  • Execute maintenance in accordance with approved technical data including AMMs, CMMs, EMMs, and company procedures
  • Conduct troubleshooting and identify defects using standard test equipment and diagnostic processes
  • Perform borescope inspections and component-level assessments as required
  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with FAA regulations and company policies
  • Accurately complete maintenance records, work orders, and required documentation
  • Maintain tooling, test equipment, and shop equipment in proper working condition and calibration status
  • Follow all safety procedures including hazardous material handling, storage, and documentation requirements
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and FOD-free work environment
  • Work under supervision of appropriately certificated personnel when required
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to cost, turnaround time, and reliability
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of all positions at CommuteAir
  • Other duties as assigned.
