About The Position

The N.C. Department of Information Technology (NCDIT) serves as the Technology Center for the State of NC. Services that NCDIT provides reach a client base of state and local government agencies, as well as schools, colleges and universities. NCDIT provides technology services to state agencies and is charged with closing the digital divide by expanding availability of broadband services and promoting the adoption of affordable, high-speed internet. We currently have an opening for an Applications Systems Analyst II This position may be eligible for hybrid remote work in accordance with state policy and the agency’s remote work program but does require weekly onsite work The Early Career Associate Program is ideal for recent graduates, early-career professionals, or those looking to transition to a new career seeking broad exposure to state IT operations. The Early Career Associate Program is a two-year on-the-job training (OJT) program designed for individuals with three years or less of professional experience. After gaining exposure to the role through the development process, participants will have the opportunity to be placed in a permanent role based on mutual fit and career goals. The Engineering Application Development Unit is responsible for the implementation, operation and maintenance of IT systems for the automation of engineering designs and processes. The candidate for this position will use their engineering experience to design, develop and support highly complex computer software applications for the analysis, design, and rating of structural engineering components. This position will act as a team lead for assigned projects and will be responsible for creating structural engineering calculations and validating work of other team members assigned to the project. The primary purpose of the Engineering Applications Development Unit is to coordinate and direct the planning, development, or procurement, installation and operation of information systems for the various Highway Division Branches and Units.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or an IT related field or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in business application consulting or development OR Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in application consulting or development OR High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and six years of experience in business application consulting or development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience with C#, WPF, Java, Visual Studio and/or SQL
  • Demonstrated experience designing and analyzing bridge or building structures using current AASHTO, ACI or AISC design codes
  • Software engineering experience with industry standard Software Development Life Cycle methodologies

Responsibilities
