This position is a multifunctional role working on application filings and enforcement cases. The role involves evaluating and reviewing financial, managerial, competitive, and convenience and needs statutory factors for expansionary proposals. It also includes leading the evaluation, development, and review of enforcement actions and collaborating with examination teams to ensure comprehensive and consistent evaluation of legal and regulatory requirements. The Applications Examiner will build and maintain strategic work relationships with internal and external stakeholders, demonstrate balanced judgment in decision-making, and effectively communicate with senior management and directors of supervised institutions under potentially adversarial circumstances. Key responsibilities also include assessing institutions’ overall condition, risk management systems, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, statutes, and board policy, as well as investigating cases in the 6th District involving financial institution staff who’ve committed fraudulent or untrustworthy acts. The role involves performing or assisting in reviewing and editing work prepared by others for content, clarity and accuracy, participating in a variety of continuing professional development programs, and maintaining knowledge of current regulations and industry issues. The examiner will develop and recommend appropriate supervisory actions to ensure sound practices, prepare informative, well-supported supervisory products and work papers, and coordinate and lead Onsite Work. This position designs, directs, and/or participates in a comprehensive, risk-focused supervisory program of somewhat complex financial institutions (state member banks, financial holding companies, domestic and foreign-owned bank holding companies, foreign banking organizations, and nonbank subsidiaries), proactively identifying risks through on and off-site examination and review of financial information to ensure that the institutions are operating in a safe and sound manner and in compliance with application laws and regulations. The role will likely develop and maintain in-depth expertise in one or more specialty areas or topics (including but not limited to operations risk, information technology, or consumer law) and actively participate in broader Reserve Bank and/or Federal Reserve System initiatives related to areas of expertise, including formulation of policy development and implementation.
