About The Position

The Applications & Data Manager manages Straz Center's internal applications and data systems, ensuring they operate efficiently, integrate seamlessly, and effectively support cross-departmental workflows. This position plays a vital role in system configuration, data governance, user support, and project management across major platforms such as CRM/ticketing, fundraising, finance/ERP, HRIS, and communications systems. This is a high-impact role that works closely with multiple teams to ensure technology supports business processes across the entire organization. Located in downtown Tampa, the 335,000 square-foot Straz Center, one of the largest performing arts complexes in the country, offers a team-based work environment that shows our dedication to the community every day. Requirements

  • Experience in developing and optimizing complex data and reporting solutions using relational databases.
  • Experience with dashboarding visualization tools.
  • Expert-level experience with Microsoft 365 Environment.
  • Understanding of APIs, SQL, ETL processes.
  • Experience in supporting multiple users and on-line transaction processing systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex application problems and work with support staff to resolve.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-Starter: ability to work without supervision.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Flexibility to work in a 24/7 operational environment, to provide rapid respond to system outages and after-hours support.
  • Database Administrator or equivalent work experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 7+ years of experience managing enterprise application databases, integrations and IT projects.
  • Experience leveraging reporting, analytics, and CRM platforms to drive insights, optimize processes, and support organizational objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Production Application Management: Coordinate with the various departments to configure and customize the production applications. Install, configure, and maintain all Production software, including deployment of any updates and patches. Manage integrations with other systems. Work on API development and integration with third-party tools as needed. Monitor system health and performance, identifying and resolving issues, promptly.
  • Application Security and Access Control: Enforce security policies and access controls. Coordinate with the IT Manager and Human Resources to manage user permissions and roles within the system.
  • Database Administration and Security: Monitor and diagnose database performance issues. Conduct annual compliance testing and verification. Coordinate backup and recovery strategies of the business applications and databases with the IT Manager. Keep data secure by managing accessibility.
  • Data Governance: Responsible for establishing and maintaining robust data governance practices. Develop and implement data governance policies, standards, and procedures. Ensure adherence to data quality standards across the organization. Assign and manage data stewards responsible for specific data domains. Collaborate with business units to define data ownership and accountability. Conduct training sessions to promote data governance awareness and best practices. Communicate with stakeholders to gather requirements and address concerns. Establish and lead an internal standing data governance committee made up of business data stakeholders.
  • Data Integrity and Validation: Work with various departments to establish, coordinate, and maintain data integrity and validation procedures. Determine the correct source of data and designs and make recommendations based on user requirements. Ensure all database objects are developed correctly. Stay abreast of peer data integrity processes, methods, and technology tools. Place data integrity and validation in the forefront of all work efforts.
  • Business Intelligence, Analytics, Data Warehousing and Reporting: Create, oversee, and supervise reports, including, but not limited to SQL SSRS, InfoMaker, SySense, Power BI. Create, filter, and group BI visualization data. Design and develop business analytics schemas. Design and maintain the organization's data warehouse. Design and develop ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes. Oversee, supervise, develop, and optimize data solutions for the benefit of the organization. Provide advanced user support.
  • Provide updated documentation on the current process/procedures for ongoing maintenance of all production software. Provide training materials, and in some instances perform training, of all production software, as well as coordinate any vendor partner training curriculum for newly implemented production software.
  • Project Management : Coordinate with the Senior Director of IT to maintain project plans and monitor work progress. Develop project plans, timelines and communications. Create and maintain change management, standard operating procedures, and other technical documentation. Communicate with application vendors for technical support, issue resolution, and updates. Oversee any consultants engaged for any respective application and data related projects.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Oversee and supervise the organization's business applications. Understanding of and adherence to the change management policies and procedures. Provide second tier support for business application users and escalates to vendors as needed. Provide end user support, testing, and training. Oversee and supervise the creation of training programs, facilitates workshops, and vendor coordinated training on business applications, including new and updated releases. Make recommendations on business application products and improvements.
