Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, with a solid foundation in engineering principles and practices
  • Some level of experience in application engineering, product development, or technical project management
  • Proficiency in engineering software and tools, such as CAD systems and simulation tools, with knowledge of product lifecycle management
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of developing innovative solutions to meet customer requirements and overcome technical challenges
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and interact with customers to understand and address their needs
  • External applicants must be authorized to work in the US without employment VISA or other sponsorship

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in an engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of application engineering experience preferably within the automotive or industrial sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Assess customer requirements thoroughly to guide application development activities.
  • Translate customer needs into technical specifications and oversee their release following the 4-eyes principle.
  • Manage projects from a technical standpoint, ensuring development aligns with agreed specifications.
  • Collaborate on product releases to guarantee optimal solutions for customers.
  • Define technical specifications and product performance requirements through interaction with customers, performing calculations independently.
  • Develop concepts and base data to meet customer applications alongside product development and design engineers.
  • Initiate and lead Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA) with the product development team.
  • Conduct Design Verification Plans and Reports (DVP&R) to address and mitigate potential risks.
  • Ensure accurate definition of components suitable for customer systems; this includes assembly at customer plant, vehicle use, and repair/service
  • Release engineering drawings for prototypes, samples, and production stages, verifying them for customer use.
  • Initiate and review Return Parts Analysis (RPA) for performance issues, leading root cause analysis collaboratively with quality and development engineers.
  • Monitor product warranty performance in customer applications and maintain records of cost-sharing debits.
  • Provide regular project status updates to Schaeffler management, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
