About The Position

Serves as a team member in designing, developing, implementing, and/or supporting moderately complex distributed or web-based information systems. Supports project tasks and codes and test programs and develops system documentation (e.g.; structure charts, screen designs, data flow diagrams, file layouts, report layouts, and job run descriptions) in accordance with IS standards.

Requirements

  • College coursework in Computer Science or Information Systems
  • Distributed, and/or web-based system development
  • Programming languages (e.g., COBOL II, J2E)
  • Database management systems (e.g., IMS DB, DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, Access)
  • Web development (HTML)
  • PC fundamental tools (MS Office)
  • Structured systems analysis, design, programming and testing
  • Mainframe and/or distributed computing fundamentals and concepts
  • Systems operation practices
  • Analyze business problems
  • Demonstrating strong analytical and investigative ability
  • Communicate effectively in a business setting
  • Evaluate information systems and understand the inter-dependencies between components
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems in a test, development or production environment
  • Write procedures and technical materials
  • Perform a variety of concurrent activities effectively

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in UI/UX Design, Human-Centered Design, Interaction Design, Product Design, Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may also be considered.
  • Coursework, internship, academic project, volunteer, or professional experience related to user interface design, user experience design, or digital product design.
  • Portfolio or work samples demonstrating skills such as wireframing, prototyping, visual design, user research, or designing web or mobile experiences.
  • Familiarity with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, or similar tools.
  • Basic understanding of user-centered design, usability, responsive design, information architecture, accessibility, or design systems.
  • Ability to gather feedback and translate user or business needs into clear design concepts.
  • Ability to communicate design ideas and collaborate with business partners, developers, product teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with Agile, iterative design, or software and product development methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the design, development, implementation, testing, and maintenance of moderately complex web-based and distributed applications, while contributing to project deliverables, coding, system testing, and technical documentation in accordance with established IT standards.
