About The Position

We’re looking for an AP Staff Accountant to join our growing Finance team and support the day-to-day financial operations that keep COCOLAB running smoothly. This role is responsible for managing the full-cycle accounts payable process while also supporting general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close. You’ll work closely with our Controller and cross-functional partners across Operations, People, and Commercial teams to ensure accurate financial records, timely vendor payments, and clean, audit-ready books. This is a hands-on role with meaningful ownership, ideal for someone who enjoys detail-driven work, process improvement, and contributing to a fast-growing, mission-driven company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong experience with accounts payable, general ledger accounting, and month-end close.
  • Hands-on experience using NetSuite, Airbase and/or BILL, and Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote-first, fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with a passion for improving processes.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full-cycle accounts payable process, including invoice processing, approvals, and vendor payments.
  • Monitor and manage the accounting inbox, responding to vendor and internal requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Reconcile vendor statements, research discrepancies, and resolve payment issues.
  • Process and review employee expense reports using Airbase, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Support annual 1099 preparation and reporting.
  • Prepare and post journal entries and maintain accurate general ledger records.
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities, including accruals, prepaids, and fixed asset tracking.
  • Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist in monthly financial statement review, including P&L, balance sheet, and general ledger detail.
  • Support annual audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and documentation.
  • Assist with accounting system enhancements and implementation efforts to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to strengthen workflows, internal controls, and documentation as the business scales.
