About The Position

Lehigh Valley Public Media (LVPM) is home to PBS39, WLVR and Lehighvalleynews.com. Our mission is to engage everyone in our community through our public media resources to make the Lehigh Valley better tomorrow than it is today. We are transforming into a trusted community hub that integrates local, original, and community-generated content across TV, digital, and live events. We have an exciting opportunity for someone to lead our annual giving operation. This position will lead LVPM’s community giving program by building meaningful, long-term relationships with individual donors up to $999. The person will be responsible for cultivating, soliciting, stewarding, and transitioning LVPM members from transactional support to philanthropic investment grounded in local impact and community engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Design and manage a comprehensive membership and community giving strategy focused on donor engagement, retention, and growth up to $999 in annual giving.
  • Own and execute end-to-end donor journeys for membership-level supporters, ensuring consistent application of the six R’s of fundraising: research, romance, request, recognize, retain, and renew.
  • Develop and implement segmented cultivation strategies that engage donors in LVPM’s local journalism, storytelling, education, events, and community work to deepen their connection to the impact their support makes across the Lehigh Valley.
  • Lead targeted efforts to identify, cultivate, and transition donors in the $500–$999 range into leadership-level giving, in close coordination with the VP of Development.
  • Oversee annual membership outreach plans using a mix of channels (digital, direct mail, on-air, events, and other engagement opportunities), ensuring tactics support relationship-building—not transactional giving.
  • Partner with Content, Marketing, Events, Finance, and Technology teams to align donor engagement strategies with programming, community initiatives, and organizational priorities.
  • Manage membership systems, data integrity, segmentation, and reporting to support donor stewardship, pipeline development, and strategic decision-making.
  • Supervise and support the Membership Specialist, ensuring timely, accurate, and donor-centered gift processing, acknowledgements, and service.
  • Monitor performance metrics related to acquisition, retention, donor satisfaction, and revenue growth; use insights to continuously improve the community giving program.
  • Stay informed of best practices in nonprofit and public media fundraising, recommending innovations that strengthen donor relationships and long-term sustainability.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Development team and organizational goals.
  • Be a high performing team member by demonstrating collaboration, effective communication and playing to people’s strengths and covering their blind spots without resentment.
